A Rose For Ecclesiastes Roger Zelazny
Publisher:

Actually I recommend pretty much all Zelazny except the execrable “madwand” stuff. A bit out of control for my taste) -- which are plainly fantasy books to my taste -- as well as more Sci-Fi/alternate world stories such as This Immortal, Damnation Alley and especially his short work A Rose for Ecclesiastes. "A Rose for Ecclesiastes," by Roger Zelazny -- so good. If you want to go short I'd recommend A Rose for Ecclesiastes - epic tale of an obsessed linguist seeking to communicate with the remaining handful of an alien race. After 10,000 years of recorded history, I doubt that any plot is new, and it doesn't bother me a bit. All hope for change or future from their thought. I think the poet in the spaceship is a reference to Roger Zelazny's “A Rose for Ecclesiastes” which I strongly recommend. I always cry at the end of Flowers for Algernon and I also cried at the end of Zelazny's A Rose For Ecclesiastes the first time I read it. Excellently presented in the story, "A Rose for Ecclesiastes" (60's sci-fi story by Roger Zelazny, I highly recommend it). Especially that lovely magazine cover he did for Zelazny's "A Rose for Ecclesiastes". They say that all is vanity, all waste, All useless; life is done, though time is not. They say that nothing matters, they erased. Also, you should read that story in the background. 3 Zelazny, Roger : A Rose for Ecclesiastes (1963) 754 49 4 Asimov, Isaac : The Bicentennial Man (1976) 660 44 5 Martin, George R. Maybe the shapes of the letters, or the colors he used in those two pieces, but Ehsaei's calligraphy reminds me of Hannes Bok's paintings.
